Golden Home Project is run by Ian McWherter, founder of Golden Home Project LLC. The site reviews home and pet-household products — primarily things that survive (or fail) in a real house with two dogs and a Maine Coon. Reviews are written first-person from hands-on use, not rewrites of manufacturer copy.
Every product reviewed on this site is one I either personally purchased or would have purchased anyway for my own household. Testing happens in normal daily use, not in a controlled studio. I document specific things I observed (how long an installation took, what happened after four wash cycles, whether a 65-lb dog dislodged it within a week) instead of describing what a product is "designed to" do.
If a product fails the test, I either (a) write the limitation explicitly into the review or (b) don't publish the review at all. I don't write hit-pieces — there's no audience for that — but I also don't omit a problem to protect a commission.
I bought my Mamma Mia waterproof stretch sofa cover with my own money in 2026 before any affiliate relationship existed. The reviews on this site reflect six weeks of daily use in my own home. The fact that I now earn a commission on the product does not change what the product did or didn't do during testing.
If a brand sends me a free product to review, I'll say so explicitly inside the review. As of this writing, no brand has done that — every product covered on the site is something I paid for.
No brand has approval rights over what's published here. I don't run sponsored posts disguised as reviews. I don't accept payment in exchange for positive coverage. If you spot a factual error in a review, email me and I'll correct it (and note the correction at the bottom of the post).
